Karen Colón is an accomplished administrative professional with over 25 years of experience specializing in financial operations, grants administration, and team leadership. Currently serving as the Program Manager for Finance & Business at the Division of Community and Population Health within the Ambulatory Care Network at New York Presbyterian Hospital (NYP), Karen has been a key player in managing financial operations for a diverse range of health programs, including those at the Center for Community Health & Education (CCHE), family planning, and school-based health centers.

Since November 2015, Karen has directed the financial and business administration across eight ambulatory care sites. Her role involves overseeing hospital operating and grant budgets, collaborating with NYP Finance Departments and State/City Department of Health program staff, and formulating comprehensive program budgets to optimize revenue and expenditures. She also handles accounts payable, purchasing, and strategic sourcing, ensuring meticulous financial management and compliance.

Karen’s tenure with NYP began in 1998, where she held progressively responsible roles related to grant programs. Before her current position, she served as the Program Manager for Grants from July 2009 to November 2015. In this role, she liaised with finance and legal departments to ensure compliance with grant management requirements, supervised the grants management program, and monitored financial management to adhere to program and funding guidelines.

Karen holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the State University of New York College at Oswego and is a graduate of NYP’s Building Tomorrow’s Leadership (BTL) program. She has also been recognized with the NYP Service Excellence Award for Individual Achievement.
